Poppy
I adopted Poppy from a shelter in Downey, California on 3/25/17. I don't know much about her history except that the shelter found her roaming on the streets east of Los Angeles. She was underweight, suffered from a virus, had mange, and had just been spade when we brought her home.
Her Embark DNA test results indicated that she is 88.6% American Pit Bull Terrier and 11.4% Boxer. The DNA results also revealed her approximate age, which put her at approximately 6 months old when I adopted her.
Today she is healthy and living the life of an adventure dog. Her favorite activities include trail running, hiking, backpacking, camping, swimming, sniffing, and sleeping. She also loves snuggling and giving kisses to those she trusts. When Poppy is not exploring the great outdoors, she trains in obedience, barn hunt, trailing and locating, and agility among other things.
Arleen
Hi! I am Poppy's mom. I've always loved the great outdoors and remember swimming in the ocean and playing in the sand all day when I was a child and coming home sunburned! Over the past decade I've really gotten into hiking, backpacking, and camping. I was born in the Philippines, grew up in Papua New Guinea, and moved to California during middle school. I teach Communication Studies and I like to describe myself as a life-long learner. I started Poppy's Instagram account as a way to document our time together, and from there photography developed into one of my hobbies. I don't have any background in photography and am self-taught.
